Vitosha district is Sofia's green south — Boyana, Dragalevtsi, Simeonovo, Knyazhevo, Buxton and Manastirski Livadi at the foot of the mountain. Houses and gated communities, the UNESCO-listed Boyana Church, the lifts up Vitosha and some of the city's most active new-construction zones.
Vitosha district stretches along the foot of the mountain — the largest of the urban districts by area (123 sq. km including mountain territory), with around 61,000 residents. It combines villa zones, houses and modern complexes with clean air and views over the city.
Boyana, Dragalevtsi and Simeonovo are the prestige foothill quarters of houses and residences; Knyazhevo keeps its warm mineral springs; Pavlovo and Buxton are established urban quarters, and the western part of Manastirski Livadi is among the most built-up new zones in Sofia. The villages of Vladaya and Marchaevo also belong to the district.
Boyana Church, with its 13th-century frescoes, is UNESCO-listed, and the National Historical Museum stands nearby. The Simeonovo and Dragalevtsi lifts go straight up into Vitosha Nature Park — the oldest in the Balkans. Transport relies on the boulevards towards the centre and the Ring Road; Vitosha metro station sits at the district's edge. The market offers houses, plots and luxury gated communities.
