Serdika is Sofia's northern inner district — Banishora and Fondovi Zhilishta right by the centre, with Orlandovtsi and Malashevtsi keeping a calmer, house-lined character. It holds the Central Railway and Bus stations and Lions' Bridge, with metro line 2 crossing the district.
Serdika district stretches north of the centre — around 47,000 residents on 18 sq. km. It carries the name of the ancient city and serves as Sofia's transport gateway.
Banishora and Fondovi Zhilishta are established quarters a step from the centre, while Orlandovtsi and Malashevtsi to the north keep a lower-rise, house-lined character. Lions' Bridge (Lavov Most) marks the symbolic border with the historic core.
The district holds the Central Railway Station and Central Bus Station — the capital's link to the whole country — as well as the Second and Fifth City hospitals. Metro line 2 crosses it with Knyaginya Maria Luiza and Han Kubrat stations. The market combines affordable apartments in Banishora, increasingly sought after for their closeness to the centre, with houses and plots in the northern quarters.
