Novi Iskar is the northernmost district of Sofia Municipality — the town of Novi Iskar with its Kumaritsa, Kurilo and Slavovtsi quarters plus a dozen villages at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. Houses with gardens and plots below city prices, with a railway line through the Iskar Gorge.
Novi Iskar district is the northernmost in Sofia Municipality — around 29,000 residents on 220 sq. km, where the Iskar Gorge begins. The town of Novi Iskar was formed in 1974 by merging three villages.
The town's quarters — Kumaritsa, Kurilo, Slavovtsi, Gnilyane and Izgrev — keep the character of houses with gardens. Around it, a dozen villages including Chepintsi, Negovan and Svetovrachene complete the district. The terrain is flat to the south and mountainous to the north towards the Balkan range.
The railway through the Iskar Gorge and the roads to Lomsko Shose and the Ring Road connect the district to the city. This is a zone of houses, villas and plots priced well below the city — the choice for buyers after space, quiet and a garden of their own, half an hour from Sofia.
