Kremikovtsi is Sofia's north-eastern district — the Kremikovtsi, Botunets, Chelopechene and Seslavtsi quarters plus the town of Buhovo. A vast post-industrial territory with the 15th-century Kremikovtsi Monastery and some of the most affordable houses and plots in the municipality.
Kremikovtsi district covers the north-east of Sofia Municipality — around 24,000 residents on more than 250 sq. km at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. Long tied to the steel works, today the district is being rediscovered for its open land and quiet quarters.
Kremikovtsi, Botunets, Chelopechene and Seslavtsi are the quarters of houses and low blocks, with the town of Buhovo completing the district to the east. Its emblem is the Kremikovtsi Monastery of St George, with a church from 1493 and valuable 16th-century frescoes.
Bus lines and the roads to Botevgradsko Shose and the Ring Road link the district to the city. The former industrial sites draw logistics and manufacturing investors, while the housing market offers some of the municipality's most affordable houses with gardens and plots — space at a price the city itself no longer offers.
